Welcome! We offer a warm welcome to you to join us in worship and in other Church activities.
Our aim is to be an inclusive Christian community, with a deep commitment to justice and peace, which affirms and values everyone.

June 2009 was a month of reflection for Lancaster Methodist Church on the theme

Whose world is it anyway?

“The Earth and everything on it belong to the Lord. The world and its people belong to him.” (Psalm 24)

Methodist young people through the Youth Executive have challenged the Methodist Church to take the issue of Climate Change seriously -
churches and individuals are being encouraged to get involved by taking a month of action - Stem the Tide.

So what has happened at LMC in June?
- Themed worship on all four Sundays - helping us to think about how we should be caring for God’s creation and why, as Christians, we should care about climate change.
- Open house afternoon on Sunday 14 June - an opportunity to think about changes we can make in our own homes.
- An eco-audit of our premises at Scotforth Road.
- A table of information in the foyer about Christian organisations that are involved in green issues
- Improved recycling facilities at church.
- Weekly leaflets distributed to help people to think about their own response to the challenge.
- Car-share / walk / cycle to church day - Sunday 28 June
- And, coming during July, a speaker from the Breathe network.

A major report on these issues is going to this year's Methodist Conference: "Hope in God’s Future: Christian Discipleship in the Context of Climate Change"

Services are held each Sunday at 10.30 am and at 6.30 pm. We are developing a 'Fresh Expression' of church at The Cornerstone in the city centre, seeking to serve the needs of the city and to find new ways to share the gospel. More information will be found on the Fresh Expressions page of this site.
